What is a Roasting Profile?

Think of a roasting profile as a blueprint for your coffee roasting process. It guides the consistent production of your desired coffee by outlining key details like the type of green beans (single or blend), roasting machine, input weight, charge temperature, roasting development, and expected event timings (like turning point and first crack).

For example, if you are roasting a 'daily blend', your profile might include:

  • Beans & Amounts: 2.4kg Brazil NY2 Cerrado + 1.6kg Colombia Medellin Supremo

  • Roasting Machine: Giesen W6A

  • Charge Temperature: 260°C

  • Target Drop Temperature: 228°C

  • Expected Roasting Time: 8 minutes 20 seconds

  • Expected Yield: 3.4kg

  • Notes: Reference the roasting graph from November 15, 2023, at 15:40 for a similar profile.

This profile is developed over multiple roasting sessions and helps achieve consistent results in repeated production.

Different profiles can exist for the same beans, like a light or dark roast, or a blend could evolve into versions like "Daily Blend V2" or "Daily Blend V3" as the bean composition changes.

Introduction to the Profile Feature and Quick Start Guide

When roasting with the same profile repeatedly, it can be tedious to re-enter green bean details and other information manually each time. The profile feature simplifies this process, making data entry much more efficient.

How to create a profile

If you have a coffee blend or single-origin that you roast regularly, set up a profile.

  • Go to the 'Profile' menu and click 'Create Profile'.

  • Enter the required details, which will automatically apply to all roasting logs associated with this profile.

To use the profile feature, you will need to register your green coffee beans first. Once registered, you can also take advantage of the inventory management feature.

Using the Profile Feature for Roasting

You can easily record roasting information using the profile you created earlier.

  • On the profile page, you will see a button on the right side of the profile you made.

  • Click this button to start the roasting process.

  • The green bean details, input amount, output amount, and batch name you entered earlier are automatically filled in.

Profile Management

  • On the profile page, click on the profile you have created to access the detail page.

  • You can search all the roasting records associated with this profile in one place.

Pinning Background Logs

  • On the profile page, use the 'Pin Background Log' button located next to the roasting record to select a reference background log.

  • When you load a profile for roasting, the background log will be automatically assigned.

By registering the profiles you use during production, you can automatically input roasting information and set the background log with just a profile selection during roasting. This streamlines the process and saves time.
