Start Roasting

Roasting Process: This manual is written with actual roasting scenarios in mind, so we recommend reading it first before proceeding.

Once the preheating of the roasting machine is complete, press "Start Roasting" on the first page of Firescope to enter the roasting page.

When the temperature is close to the desired input temperature (within approximately 10 degrees), press the "Start" button. The roasting record begins, and the BT (Bean Temperature) and ET (Environment Temperature) are marked on the graph.

Once you input at the target temperature, the input event is automatically captured, when the BT temperature starts to decrease. The turning point event is also captured when the BT temperature stops decreasing and starts rising. If the input temperature is incorrectly specified, you can re-specify it by pressing the right button.

This is what each line color represent:

  • Red Line: ET (Environment Temperature) represents the air temperature in the portion where beans do not touch, mainly at the top of the roaster drum (may not be supported by all roasting machines).

  • Green Line: BT (Bean Temperature) represents the temperature at the lower part where beans mainly reside while the roaster drum is rotating.

  • Blue Line: BT RoR (Bean Temperature Rate of Rise) represents the temperature change rate per hour of BT and is mainly used to predict the future BT temperature (similar to the dotted green line).

  • Yellow Line: ET RoR (Environment Temperature Rate of Rise) represents the temperature change rate per hour of ET and is mainly used to predict the future ET temperature (similar to the dotted red line). Refer to the graph's left, bottom, and right axis settings.

Manipulating the pressure (burner) and airflow (damper) values during roasting can be recorded by right-clicking your mouse. You can also easily record events and operations with the button in the upper right corner.

The drawing end event is checked at the default temperature setting. This temperature can be changed in the graph settings.

Manually check the 1st and 2nd crack events during roasting.

You can enter key information, notes, and green bean information on the right to view records systematically, which can also be searched on the roasting record page.
